Dr Issy Feldman

I am Isaac Feldman [ also known as Issy].

I was born in 1950 in Caulfield [ Hopetoun Hospital ] My parents arrived as migrants in Australia from Munich in 1950. They were both Holocaust survivors and lived in Poland prior to internment in the Nazi slave camps. My mother is 92 [biz 120] My late father died aged 94 in 2014.

I was educated at Caulfield North State School and then Melbourne High School. I graduated from Monash Medical School training at the Alfred and Prince Henry’s Hospital . I have been a General Practitioner for over 40 years, and during this time spent 15 years as an examiner for the Royal Aust College of General Practice. I was also a GP representative on the Cabrini Medical Executive for 10 years. I retired from full time General Practice in 2016 [ following my second bout of spinal surgery wanting to take time to ‘ smell the roses’ but instead am just as busy in different directions. ]

I and my family have been associated with Caulfield Shule since 1954. I attended kindergarten at the Shule, and I also attended Talmud Torah in the old building, my Barmitzvah and Wedding were also at Caulfield Shule officiated by Rabbi Shalom Gutnick. I have acted as Honorary Medical Officer of the Shule for over 30 of the last 40 years.

Judi, my wonderful wife of 46 years and I have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Her late family were also Shule members.

Judi and I both are on the Darchei Shalom committee and I am also a committee member of Aust Friends of Yad Vashem.

I am strongly committed to developing the Shule further and see a need to develop a community centre to strengthen the Shule as a focal point and provide community needs.

I look forward to providing useful input to our new board.
